| This event is not a race. It is intended to be a fun personal challenge, combined with the opportunity to get out and celebrate life and raise money for a very special charity.
Your personal safety and that of other road users is important at all times.
The event takes place on the public highway so all riders must obviously abide by the Highway Code in all circumstances. We ask that riders take particular care to preserve their personal safety at all times and are respectful to other road users. This is particularly important as the event takes place on a bank holiday weekend when the roads may be busy.
The function of marshals is only to indicate the direction of the route and riders must use their own discretion when deciding if it is safe to proceed with any manoeuvre. Riders participating in this event do so at their own risk. No liability can be accepted by the organiser/promoter, or sponsors, of the event for any injury, loss or damage suffered by riders in or by reason of the event.
Please do not race. Take your time to enjoy the countryside and the company of the other participants and keep yourself and others safe at all times.
The wearing of a cycling helmet is advised and suitable clothing and equipment should be carried to cope with all eventualities of the weather. Water is an essential requirement for all riders (whatever the weather) and waterproofs and sun block etc may also be needed.
Please ensure that you are sufficiently fit to participate in the event before you start and that your cycle and equipment are in good order. Carry the essentials to deal with punctures and the inevitable roadside issues that arise and please remember that this is a fun event so a helpful hand given to a fellow rider in distress is generally appreciated.
Prior to registering, participants under the age of 18 who are not to be accompanied by an adult must have the consent of a parent or guardian who will vouch that they are competent to ride safely on the public highway and capable of riding the distance or their chosen route.
